He still wanted to get back to the house pretty fast, but with some coaxing back to me with some treats it wasn't as bad. I just thought this behavior was a little strange after he was happy with going for walks the first week and then suddenly he didn't want to. I'll take it slow and see what happens. Thanks everyone for your help.

I am taking the same route and extending it with each walk, and he is fine as long as he is on ground he has walked one time before. Shortly after we get outside of the familiar ground, the whining starts. I stop, give him some encouragement, and he settles down. We go a little farther and it starts again, same cycle until we turn for home. Sounds to me like your guy is doing the same thing - I think the key is when the whining starts to not respond immediately with what the pup wants, but continue to expand the horizon some each time. I also think our pups will grow out of this soon. Stupid people shouldn't breed.
