Otto is marker trained. We tell him 'good boy' or 'yes' when he's done what we want him to. Shaed is the same, and she wasn't trained with treats. She was primarily trained in drive with her orbee or a ball-on-string.
I need to work on my timing.
I'm just thankful that the older two know what to do, with or without markers or treats.
I'm out of practice with my training. Both me and my hubby got out of our routine with our dogs right after we moved back to ND-between his shift work and commute, me getting pregnant, trying to sell our house out of state and us trying to find a new house before the baby came; I hate to say it, but the dogs came last for a while.
We were living with my hubby's dad in a small house, then his brother moved in. There wasn't a whole lot of space or time for us to do a whole lot of refresher training sessions with them-we did try our hardest. But having 2 other people around giving commands, even though we told them ALL the time not to. I felt bad for them for a long time, they didn't know what was going on.
I love my three big goofballs, I wouldn't know what to do with little bitty dogs!
I'm not a small dog kind of person, neither is my hubby (apparently! lol). But if we ever got a dog that was any shorter, it'd be a English Bulldog. Even though they can still weigh as much as a small GSD! lol
