Cleo is almost 1 y/o old now. She is a healthy, lean and active 100lbs. She is on a raw only diet.
She finished her 1st heat on January 16.
Since her heat, her nipples have remained somewhat enlarged. It looks almost as if she had puppies although her nipples are not as pronounced as a post pregnancy bitch.
A few days ago, I saw a small blood spot on her bedding in the morning. This morning, I saw the same type spot. Each time it was just one spot, smaller than the size of a dime. Since that first morning, I have been keeping an eye on her for vaginal discharge but have seen nothing out of the ordinary. I have noticed no other bleeding at night or during the day.
Cleo is with me most of the day, so I think I would see if she had regular bleeding.
Any thoughts? Is this something I should be concerned about? Thanks for your help. I am worried about my girl
Whenever Shaed goes into heat, her nipples become a bit swollen. She's been through a few heats, and she doesn't bleed constantly through her heat (spotty)-but you said that Cleo has already been through her heat.
I agree with Alyssa, I'd have her checked out at the vet just for good measure
No vaginal discharge or smell. Urination is normal. Did a vaginal swab at direction of my vet (she's out of town) and it came up clean. No blood over the last few nights. Can't explain the mystery blood
Does anyone know long should I expect her nipples to remain enlarged?
Not to alarm you but Nico's nipples never went down after he first heat. She is quite the lady!
I am totally used to them now, but they weird other people out sometimes, and other people ask me when she had puppies.
I have no idea if it is normal or not though for them to stay enlarged
