I have two dogs that hop up and down with their front paws at the door when it is time to go out. Funny thing is they never go out together, so they didn't learn it from each other!
My youngest (19 months) raises his left paw when he is greeting you or when you pet him (as any submissive dog does), but he kind of goes overboard: he puts his head down and raises his paw up above his head! And he does it ALL THE TIME! (I have never taught him to give a paw, he has always just done this).
Funny- my cat learned to scratch or meow (whine) at the back door when she wants out from my Yorkie- I assume anyways but they do sometimes go out together weird how my Yorkie loves the cat- when I have a GSD litter at home she hates them all no matter how small, large or calm she cannot stand them-now the cat absolutely loves them-she loves to play with the puppies. I always thought that was odd because my Yorkie loves visiting with other dogs but she just does not like GSD's!
