Yes she said to use sunscreen. I've tried putting sunblock on the area but she just licks it off and I'm concerned about her injesting that stuff. Other than walks she pretty much stays inside when its hot, she never sun bathes like some of my other dogs. And when we go out I pretty much walk her early morning and stick to the shade.
I don't know if we have that medication over here, I can investigate, what is it?. At first the scratching was frantic and she scratched herself raw. Then with time it subsided and now she scratches much less but if I see her I get her to stop, but obviously I'm not with her 24/7. At night she is much better, she scratches more during the day. I took a picture of her mouth but I don't know how to upload it.

Can you get it onto a Photobucket-type account?
(BTW, I would not "get her to stop" if it results in a dog scratching in private where you can't monitor how bad it is.)
Hydroxyzine is a strong antihistamine that I have found beneficial (but it's very individual). Many dogs get no benefit from antihistamines, but I think it's worth trialing. You can ask for a small prescription.
How much fish oil? Antihistamines work better (Tufts 2005) when long-chain 3s from marine products are used concurrently. Don't forget to give Vitamin E when you give oil.

I give her 1 teaspoon of Now brand Omega 3 fish oils, I think it has about 300 mg of EPA and 250 DHA. I always reward her for not scratching, I don't think she's tries to scratch in private, when I'm home she's pretty much always with me. I'll add Vit E to her meals and I'll see if we have Hydroxyzine over here.
Sorry I don't have a clue what a photobucket account is -
