Lucy is doing better since being on the antibiotic Flagyl for Giardia. However, it was tearing my little girl's tummy up.
So, I had an AHa! moment and realized I hadn't incorporated any probiotics with her antibiotic. Re-read postings on the forum and started her on Kefir (which I drink, plain and full fat) and bought a probiotic from the Natural food store. She is so much better, that her attitude is changing. Who knew that inside this little dog was a comedian!
Her poops are frequent due to the Flagyl, but thats okay. I want that Giardia out of her! When I have more money, I am going to order the Probiotics from Leerburg. Someone, I think Alyssa, suggested a brand, but I can't find the post. I will know the name when I see it. I am going to keep her on the probiotics for life and MSM and hopefully we can at least keep the nasties from becoming as prolific as they were a week ago.
Great forum with a lot of knowledge! (I see a book somewhere down the line in these threads...)
I use Probios. I used it with great success when Danke was on antibiotics for colitis.
Leerburg carries the powdered form, if I recall correctly.
I have used both the powdered form, and the tablet form of Probios with great success- and Danke adores the tablets. She thinks they're treats.
(Then again, she also thinks her Vit E gelcaps are treats, too.)
