Just the fact that the vet has not done ANY skin scrapings to look for yeast, bacteria, etc. would be unsettling to me. That is what a lot of vets do - just send you away with meds to try and get rid of the symptoms instead of finding out WHY the dogs has the symptoms in the first place. That ends up costing you a lot of money in drugs and things that don't help long term, AND it wastes a lot of time in figuring out what the dog needs for a healthy life.
At minimum I would get a referral from someone you know to a good vet and ask for some skin scrapes and a second opinion of what is going on. At best, I would go to a derma vet and find out what is causing the rash, ear infections, smell, etc.
Just wanted you to know. I took Eika to the vet she has a yeast infection (the vet took a scrape and examined under a microscope). Since the antiobotics prescribed before didn't seam to work, he prescribed Temaril to help ease the itching and Ketaconazole for the infection. I also purchased Malaseb Flush and will flush every other day foe the next few days. I desperately want to get her ears healthy!

For what it's worth, I give this homemade ear cleaner thumbs up. I've used it for a number of years. It quickly cleared up the couple of ear itch/goo issues I've ever encountered. A monthly cleaning keeps everyone's ears nice and healthy. Dirt cheap too.
16 Oz. bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol
4 Tablespoons of Boric Acid Powder
16 Drops of Gentian Violet Solution
The alcohol is a carrier for the other two ingredients, It dossolves gunk and evaporates quickly. The boric Acid powder and gentian violet are old-time anti-fungals.
Doesn't hurt a bit. My dogs actually seem to enjoy this stuff, or at least the extra attention of getting their ears cleaned.

My bitch used to have ear infections all the time, she also had sore paws - since about 6 weeks after we switched to a hypo-allergenic, grain free diet she has had no issues. That would be 4/5 years ago now.
