That said, everyone talks about the growth plates closing and what-not, but has anyone read any journal articles about it? Is there a pubmed for vet papers?
While I respect the opinions of those qualified to make medical statements, I like to do my own fact checking. Unfortunately, my university does not have a subscription to any veterinary publications.
Are there any books on this subject that those knowledgeable would recommend?
I pretty much blunder through books and web searches on things like this until I finally find a trail. (With nutrition and allergies, I can generally find my way. If it's a good caffeine-loaded day.)
Which part of the "growth plates closing and what-not" subject? Are you asking when the various plates close, what fractures to the softer plates do, or about exercise in general for growing puppies?
I have vet manuals, but no specifically ortho books (except by canine sports PT people). That is, depending on your question, I (or someone else) might have the answer in print, if not online.
There are books on ortho research, ortho surgery, etc., of course, but are you looking more for development and disease as they relate to environmental factors?

All of it, I'm a curious person haha.
Thanks for the information! After finals, I have some good starting points for research.

How about info regarding when it's okay to increase the exercise in a mali puppy?
Also, how does swimming apply to puppies? Any need to limit the amount of this in them? I ask about in this particulary because isn't swimming one of the best ways for muscle therapy and stuff like that?
