My dog had very itchy skin allover his face, legs and back, with dry skin such as flakes and red bumps... Well I went to the vet and he said it looks to be flea allergies or other allergies. He then prescribe some pills for me which did not work at all just sleepiness ac cured, for one my dog is a guard dog not for him to be sleeping on the job. He has already gotten off of dog food to help which did help with Pano. SO I went online look up to see if any one else had this problem found out a lot of other dogs has this. It is said to be allergies, severe dry skin due to lack of nutrition in dog food or food allergies. Seasonal allergies due to dry and moist conditions or parasites. I went ahead and got Olive Oil Extra Virgin cold Compressed. Which you do apply in food & on skin & coat. He has been very less itchy now But it could take a month or two to get into the right health with skin & coat. He has had less flaky skin. I am just happy with what I got so far. ALso to try Calendula with Thyme tea bag boil let cool and then place into a spray bottle and spray effected areas"I havent done that yet as I am waiting on my check" but worth it. Hope this helps others with the same problem. With Shampoo try to make an all natural Oatmeal for dry skin dogs, Lavender & rose mary oils, apple cider vinegar in food or in shampoo. A couple of ideas for you all. Have a great week....

I'm so glad he is getting some relief!
So you're thinking that it's not allergies, then, right? Olive oil could help simple dry skin, but not allergies.
Olive oil is a good thing, but it isn't a substitute for fish oil, BTW, because even though it does contain small amounts of Omega 3s, it's mostly monounsaturated fatty acids. Also, what Omega 3 olive oil does provide is in the form that dogs are not able to convert to long-chain 3s the way humans can (and the mechanism isn't very efficient in humans, either).
For the potent anti-inflammation benefits of DHA and EPA (long-chain 3s), dogs need marine sources.
