My dog has had a ligament strain for the past few weeks and while it's getting better I've not been able to really stretch her on walks (short leash controlled walks have been the order of the day).
I'm told it will be another 3 weeks (after some Cartrophen shots) before I can resume normal training, but I'm looking for info/pointers on keeping her stimulated without aggrevating the injury, and, any rehab type excercise (other than swimming) that we can do.
She is a middle to high drive dog that gets very wound up about work so I can't even take her for short tracks as she will pull far too much.
Hi Alyssa,
I know but in what way? I can fill a kong but all the training games I know require a bit of movement from the dog, and that's what I want to restrict.
Anyone have any suggestions on games that do not require the dog to move much? I just can't think straight enough right now and I'm a man so imagination is a bit lacking :-)
How much marker training experience do you have?
I recommend reading up on SATS.
Ultimately, once you really *get* marker training, the possibilities are endless.
Does the dog already have a touch command?
You can teach touch left, touch right, using markers.
Now that's the games sorted, anyone got some pointers on basic rehab or things to watch for or do? I'm taking her swimming this week once it's settled down a bit more. She's getting annoyed with the short walks as it's not what she's used to, so going on what Alyssa has suggested I'm sure I can play a watch me game while walking and spit hot dogs at her. Man this thinking for yourself sure is hard work, I need a sleep now :-).

Thanks for the advice. I have done a bunch of marker work and both my dogs know touch. I guess that makes sense, yeah it is easier than I thought. I will read up on SATS. I have heard of it but never used it.
