Just finally got time to post an update on my dog that got depressed after being hit by a car. He has a fractured pelvis! The poor thing! I felt so bad for thinking he was just depressed all that time, when the fact was he was really hurt! ...the vet said it's in a protected area, so there's nothing they can do but we have to keep him kenneled and slow moving for 6 weeks so it can heal properly. It'll be hard b/c my dog LOVES his exercise & walks....but we have to do it.
I'm thankful b/c it could have been a lot worse. So, thanks to you all for posting responses on getting him checked again. It was really good advice. It's nice to know for sure now. Take Care!
You know what was wrong, and he'll be able to heal properly now that you know to avoid the long walks, etc.
Additionally, you know how your dog behaves when he is in pain. In the future, you'll be able to spot signs of discomfort or pain very quickly, since you know what it looks like on him.
Don't beat yourself up- the first vet SHOULD have x-rayed.
