I'm seriously considering switching to raw and I want to know if I can get away with feeding once a day. Right now I feed kibble twice, but it would simplify my life to switch to once, sounds dumb I know, but that second feeding is always an inconvenience.
I'm assuming the answer is going to be, "depends on the dog."
I have 5 dogs. One standard poodle is really petite and she'd eat two bites 10 times a day if I let her, so it probably won't work with her. My 2 bull terriers I'm trying to get to gain weight, so I'm probably stuck feeding them twice too right??
Hopefully going to breed one of the bullies in July. I'm still reading about what special stuff I should do for her. Need her to keep and gain weight. My conformation handler told me she needs to gain 10lbs. Now understand she's not really UNDER weight or sickly, just needs to bulk up for competition, other dogs make her look too tiny.
I feed an all raw diet & feed my dogs ( GSD 1/2 yr & 5 Yr) 2X a day. As pups they are fed 3X a day until 6 months old & then switch to 2 X a day. I persoally don't like feeding large anmounts in one meal. I run my dogs lightly early in the morning (week days when I have to go to work)& feed 1+ hours later. On the weekends I run & work them longer & feed later in the am. Late in the day, after work or just later in the afternoon on weekends, I run & work them harder & feed in the evening. My dogs have a quiet time for an 1+ before being fed & at leat 2+ hours after they eat. When they are fed dinner in the evening whichh is a bit latger of a meal than the am feeding, that is the end of the day....NO more 'activity' after that.
