Betty, I used to be concerned that my dog would give herself accidental corrections with a prong when using the long line, but I don't find that to be the case.
I have an adjustable one that I bought here, and when I'm using it for play times I set it slightly looser than I do for walks (like 1 link looser), and it does not seem to bother my dog to wear it during those times.
The thing that I do find is that the long line gives me much more control over the dog, whether it's for giving a correction or for reinforcing a command that was ignored, etc.
We don't use it all the time, but I probably have it on her 80% of the time that we are outside...
Lynne: Okay, you may think this is totally a dumb question.
How do you keep your dog from playing with the long line.
I can see it now. Luna is a Play till you drop kind of dog.
We would be constantly battling over eating the long line?
Funny but true!!!!
Thanks

Ahhh, so that's why you haven't been using one!
First of all, here's what I use; it's a 15' cotton drag line that is made of heavy webbing, so it doesn't tangle very easily. Drag Line
I think you just have to go through the pain of conditioning your dog to ignore it. Put it on and have her favorite toy handy to distract her. Once the fascination has worn off, she should leave it alone. But, you've got to use it enough that she is conditioned to it, otherwise every time you put it on her she will play with it.
If she keeps playing with it, pick up the line and say 'no!' and pop it out of her mouth firmly; if she keeps playing with it after that, say 'no!', pop it out of her mouth, and give her a prong correction. She should get the message...
Thanks for all the advise, chain may just work especially if
its the kind you use for anchors!!!Just kidding. Will give it
a try. You guys are great thanks for the support.
