I know that some of you guys are aware that Roo had a strange medical issues. Last Wedensday, I went back to my old Vet who I used to work for four years as kennel worker. Roo wasn't doing better after several vet visits at other hospital until we saw Dr. Miller.
He got all results from the other hospital and told me to stop giving Roo Fluconazle and orbax. He gave me better antibiotic called simplicef and a supplement called derm caps (extra strength for medium and large breed). It is a concentrated fatty acid dietary supplement. Roo started to get better really fast and his three abscess are going down. They have turned into scabies. The fourth one that was about to get bigger has gone down.
Now I have a question. I have been giving Roo a salmon oil almost daily, why is it not helping him? I give about one teaspoon of grizzly salmon oil. What is the difference between derm caps es to salmon oil? Aren't they supposed to be the same? Just wondering.

Oh! Maybe I know! Grizzly is higher in DHA ratio to EPA. Hambone (husky) still had skin peeling and coarse dry hair and dandruff, etc on it. Derm Caps and such should have higher EPA to DHA ratio for skin. Check it and see. Hambone is on high potency oil with high EPA. He is now on 3Vcaps and doing better.
Thanks Jennifer and Jo! I am very happy he is doing better and you could be right. Who knows if Roo is allergic to Salmon oil. I haven't give him any salmon oil after I got the derm caps.
Connie,
Roo is 12 lbs and a small dog. I believe I make mistake with his salmon oil. I don't believe I give Roo 1 teaspoon, more of one or two drops of salmon oil with his raw and bone. I thought it was enough. Either Roo needs more than what is offered. Either the antibodic or derma caps helped him a lot, he swallows a big pill of derms cap daily. It is supposed to be for medium/large size dog.
