I'm just wondering if anyone else out there whispers commands to their dog? I've done it all during training since puppyhood once the commands were learned so that when we're out in public, in stores, or had company at our house, etc., my GSD is obedient without everybody hearing what I'm telling her. I can speak in less than a whisper and she is attentive. It's been a great thing for us.
The only time I have to whisper a command is if we are in front of people and he doesn't respond to the first command.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
The tone in your voice when giving a command is very important. It relays to the dog what is expected. In the track command you use a soft calm tone, which is the way we expect our dog to track. In OB you use a firm but not mad tone, which portrays leadership from the handler. In protection we use a suspicious tone for the watch him command.
