I have placed a deposit on a Dutch Shepherd puppy and was waiting to get him at 8 weeks. The breeder contacted me today and said the puppy will be ready to go at 6 weeks. Will this be fine for the puppy or can it have a bad effect. The breeder is reputable and very helpful, I am just unsure of a 6 week old pup. My first boxer who is now 6 years old was taken from her litter mates at 6 weeks old and she seems fine. I have done as much research online as possible and everyone seems to have a different opinion. Could you guys please help me on this issue. Any input is much appreciated.

I don't know who the breeder is and it's none of my business, but no reputable breeder would give away a 6 week old puppy.
There is A LOT of development that takes place between 6 and 8 weeks that your dog would miss out on and never be able to get back.
I don't know where you live, but in many areas in the States it is actually against the law to sell a 6-week-old puppy. (Don't ask me how the puppy mills sell dogs at 5 weeks - guess no one enforces those laws).

MAYBE the dog would "seem fine", but when you are committing to a 15-year, lifelong relationship, why WOULDN'T you want to stack the deck in your favour?

No, I don't believe this will be fine for the puppy. For some reason, the breeder wants to let the pups go too early. It would be a red flag in my book.
