Hey everyone! I'm a new member to the forums and have read through most of the threads here in the Czech GSD threads. I am getting a pup this summer from Joe Tackett of Houston, TX. I have heard excellent things about him and his dogs.
I am wanting a dog that is going to be capable of Schutzhund/WDS training. I have no prior experience but have contacted a local club and have done my homework. Would you all consider this a good first choice and a good pedigree?
The only thing I can wonder is why mix the show and workinglines? If you are after a 100% Czech working dog this isn't it. If you don't mind the show/work cross, maybe this breeding will work out for you. It is in my opinion all in the eye of the beholder. I have a 100% Czech female, nice dog, social... and hunt and prey drives ooozing out of her ears. I don't do protection with this one, but tracking she has a nice deep nose...but kind of fast on the track. She comes through Dargo and Grim as well as Gero and Omar. I have never heard of the gentlemen you are dealing with so have no opinion of him....
Good first choice? I am not sure....could work out well for you... Good pedigree?...Again all in the eye of the beholder...to me, there are some really nice working dogs in the ped. but this cross to me isn't something that I personally would look for in a working dog...so to me No...to the breeder...must be otherwise he wouldn't have done the breeding.
Hi there. Been a LOOOOONNG time since I have posted. Hopefully, I am still welcome here.
Anyway, the first question I would ask is why do you want a GSD, and specifically a Czech GSD?
The breeding you mention is certainly not what I would call a Czech breeding, nor a working dog breeding.
Now the sire comes out of Taunya and Josef Mravik so should be a good dog. BUT, what has the sire done to prove himself? I don't see any titles? So it doesn't appear that anyone other than the breeder has really 'tested' the dog. And the dam only has a BH. While titles aren't the end all be all...I do have to question as to why this breeding was put together.
In fact that would be something I would ask the breeder, why this breeding? What do they hope to gain out of it? Or is it simply a matter of them owning both dogs and ehh sounds good?
