Dallas is approaching her 7th month birthday. Last night we "graduated" from our 4H Obedience Novice Class. Her only fault is and continues to be her lack of focus and eye contact with me at the heel. She will realiably be focused with sit/stay for one minute, down stay for three minutes on and off leash with me in sight twenty feet away. When we are at heel; she will pace herself with my pace varing but not make a lot of eye contact..then sometimes she will.. Am I expecting too much given her age?
The instructors were very pleased with us overall and I must say..she was the youngest in the class and did the best of the group as a whole.
I intend to continue with her education at home and group setting socialization/training when the next fall class begins. In the meantime; would any of you have suggestions?
