Personally I found that fence toppers and locking chain link gates were effective solutions to keeping people out of the yard. You'd be amazed what a single strand of electric fence does to keep people out of a yard. There are several more petty solutions available though.
In all seriousness though nosy trespassing neighbors can be a bit of a pain. I found that out when suddenly I realized my yard was a path for neighbor children. When I put up the fence my neighbor actually asked me to put in a back gate so people could pass through my yard. I just flat out told her the fence wasn't for keeping the dogs in.
Not that I'm an unfriendly person, I just like my guests to be expected guests.
I have my eye on a 104 acre lot right now that I hope to purchase when I finish school. We'll see if space helps keep the neighbors in their yard or if it breeds other trespassing issues.

Bamboo can have multipe uses. The species Sue mentioned is not invasive according to a couple of things I have found so it has some real potential. Thanks Sue.
That's the creepy part Randy, we are pretty boring here! My goal is to eventually between fencing and landscaping to kind of shut out the world.....LOL
