Karma, did most of your questions get answered? You have been given some good "next step" advice.
Of course I do not know your vet or the whole workup, etc., but I still think you need an ortho vet eval. I would definitely up the fish oil (far too low) and ask the ortho vet about a possible NSAD protocol if necessary (and not handing you aspirin and Rimadyl with no tests and followup). I'd take along the x-ray you have.
Yes Connie you have been very helpful and I will call his vet this week. I went out and bought the Salmon oil and have him on a liquid glucosamine I put him on Vitamin e 400 and I have flipped him over to a raw diet supplemented with The Honest Kitchen.
I can NOT get over it. I put him on a raw diet on Friday and on Sunday I started giving him The Honest Kitchen with the salmon oil and Vitamin E. It's like I have a new dog he wants to run and play he has NEVER done that he would always lay down and wouldn't play with toys .Now he is grabbing "his" basketball bring it to me to throw so he can run and fetch it.
I must say I am very very happy...
GOOD!!!!! NO cereals for this guy unless it is possibly oats or the quinoa in the THK...I mean it! Also, buy some digestive enzymes from a pet store is okay for now and use them for the first 30 days, half the dose in the food, and the other half sometime during the day or night, when he isn't eating...it will work differently but well also. then, after the 30 days, maybe 3x a week, between meals, use the digestive enzymes. Mine are simple: amylase, protease, celluase, lipase. Strictly for dogs. 50 bucks but will last my two for months.
Congratulations to you and your dog. What a great decision.
I can never explain something quickly but suffice it to say that you stopped feeding him poison and started giving him the fuel that his body needs. I know this from first hand experience from my self. I had an "addiction" to Coke and the high fructose corn syrup is poison. When I removed this from my diet, this along with a few changes, most of my arthritic symptoms disappeared.
I am not saying that dogs are like people, but it stands to reason that you have to supply proper fuel for whatever the animal.
Listen to all the experts here at this forum and you will not only give your dog the best life possible, but you will see a difference in your pocketbook, too.
This diet change may not cure him of everything, but at the very least, you will be building his immunity.
