Thank-you Kim,
Now I can relax.
I've just been pacing, chewing my finger nails, and snapping at everyone within reach........just waiting for an answer to a simple quiet question about the age of the hoped for sire.
Jeeez, some breeders are as thin nerved as the miserable lot they're breeding.

It is obvious from your smart-a** response that you are still on your high horse.
It appears that you were intending to be civil (in the working dog sort of way).

Hey Debbie, maybe it would be better if Kim could state why this isnt just more backyard breeding thats caused enough trouble for German Shepherds and dog ownership in general. Why does she think her vet can pass hips so there's no need for ofa. Why these two dogs? And on and on and on,,,,,,

... and on and on is right.
If we follow all of the O.P.'s posts we can all see that this IS casual backyard breeding by someone who is new to the breed and does not even understand why there are folks on the thread who have reacted with immediate hostility.
I was just looking at the beginner-level "Why Not to Breed" sites. There are many. MANY. Maybe someone has a favorite to recommend. I have lots. I'd encourage the O.P. to Google the phrase Dogs, why not to breed, and take her pick. And if she does, she will then see that the hostility comes from love for the breed (and dogs, period).
Or to be potentially more positive about it, Google Dogs, Why to Breed and see how many of the viable reasons apply here.
And we would probably do well to explain some of these things up front, because the hostility is fair only if the person understands and then still goes ahead with the tragedy of casual breeding.
All JMHO, of course.

Yeah Debbie,
You got that right, I'm a more then a little civil enre to 'breeders'.
More then once I've walked away from a breeder because of THEIR umbrage to a few SIMPLE questions. Someone who knows what they're about, answers clearly and directly. Easy as that.
They don't get all huffy because you ask; what is the age of the sire or if you've gotten any ofa clearings.
For all I know this person knows everything in the world about dogs (except that sometimes the timing is wrong), but the hubris at a couple of standard questions is, really now, beyond pale.
Secondly, my original post was not addressed to whatever her name is, but to Lynn. It may have set a tone of scepticism; really though, doesn't one approach ANY breeder with a view of finding any faults? That's one reason there are trial tests, thats why there are ofa certifications, thats why there are referral lists.
As a parallel what would you think if you came into my auto repair shop and dared ask me a few questions about my experience and knowledge about cars, but instead of answering as clearly as I could directly to your questions I became all huffy and started berating you because you weren't condescending enough to my obvious superior expertise? After all, I have a stand alone shop, I have a gazillion tools, who are you to question me?
What would you do?
Well there you have it. Breeding is the top of the heap in the dog world if you ask me. They are the guardians of a finite precious resource. Me or someone else are going to have to be the care takers of those lives for the next (hopefully) 12 to 15 years.
Why not easily answer a simple question like, how old is the hoped for sire without going off the deep end about the healthy scepticism voiced? Seems to me if this person wants to breed dogs she damn well better be able to handle harder questions than the rather beniegn quarry of, 'how old is the sire'.
Solidly on terra firma,
Randy
