Anyway, Saturday, Hanna (my daughter) and her friends were over at the house, and of course, I fell off the smokestack and smoked a cigarette outside.
I stroked and petted the pups of course, since they were around.
They both began chewing themselves. Now, neither had chewed significantly since a few days after I stopped smoking.
Also, I did get a new vacuum...LOVE it. Sucks up the earth, but that means it brings to the surface all the nasty residue of years past...so that may have contributed to the problem.
I guess I want to know:
1). Anyone else see this in their dogs -- sensitivity to smoke? Residue?
2). Sensitivity to the carpets after a good vacuuming?
(Pups are my affectionate reference to my dogs, not actual puppies)

I quit over a year ago (so hard...so so hard). I don't remember the dogs being particularly sensitive to residue, but I DO know that they seemed to be repelled by the smell of the actual cigarette. I got in the habit of never smoking around the dogs because I was worried about their health (more so than my own apparently :whistle
I know that eating tobacco can be extremely toxic, so it makes sense that there could be residual sensitivities.
