Dog handlers and trainers: I have three dogs, terriors, that I walk each day, together. It is difficult to walk them together, but with the weather being so very hot, I have to or they won't get a walk. My question is, I want to take one dog out in the early morning each week, that would mean that each dog would only get walked about twice a week. I want to do this because they need individual training in the heel, and just to give them that individual attention.
In your opinion would you think it would be harmful for them to only be walked a couple times a week -due to having to wait their turn? They are in good shape, very active, oldest 3, younger two, two years old.
Thanks for your input
I used to walk one after breakfast, one after lunch and one after dinner, but it has been boiling here. They are too uncomfortable when I walk them later in the day with this heat.
They are active dogs and need lots of exercise. But I feel they are not geting the attention or training they need when I walk them all together. thanks for your input.

A treadmill on craigslist and a jar of peanut butter can solve this issue. It's not as good as a walk IMO but it will get their legs moving in an environment that hopefully has some relief from the heat.
They really need exercise daily is the reality of things, at least if you want peace, and your house not destroyed. If we're talking small terriers that can mean ball in the house, if we're talking large really the treadmill or a short swimming pool in the yard is a great way to beat the heat.
Personally I just finished walking all my wee mutts a bit ago at 11pm. It's very hot (record breaking) at night here right now but happily between all my dog walking neighbors and myself the streets are still pretty lively and safe and much cooler than the heat of the sun earlier.
Melissa: thank you for your reply. I do have a treadmill and my two dogs use it, especially Cody who is full of energy. Right now it is stored due to our water heater leaking for 4 days while we were camping and totally flooding my office, where I kept it. But I have asked my husband to help me get it out and put it in the living room so they can use it.
i agree with you, what I like about taking my dogs out is the fact that they get exposed to the sights and sounds around them.
I would love to have a pool for them and myself to get some "cool" exercise.
thank you for your kind reply. I appreciate your input.
