If you are consistent in this,( meaning every time he barks and then is quiet, reward immediately for the quiet so it clicks in his head what he's done to earn your favor), I think you will see results rather quickly. It's not an easy command b/c barking can be very self-rewarding for some, but this is how I've done it. Give it a try.

Jennifer Lee Webboard User Reg: 12-16-2007 Posts: 2851 Loc: oklahoma Offline	You want to make sure there is a couple second lag between stopping barking and you marking/rewarding. That should help avoid the problem of barking then stopping to get the reward.

I don't give anything tangible for this- I just mark their quiet behavior with the word so they associate what the word means and go from there. I haven't had that problem w/this but I see the potential. I do think that over time, you would increase the amount of time before praising/rewarding and this might help greatly.
