He is a Pit/Boxer mix. The vet visit went great. I took him for a nice walk then straight to the vet. I muzzled him half way during the walk and he adjusted fine to the muzzle by the time we got there. He jumped right on the scale and then right on to the doctors table. He was calm as they checked him and gave him all his shots. I learned something for sure this weekend. I create more of my own anxiety through projecting then is actually necessary. Maybe I should follow my dogs calm example...funny how things work.
I'm intrigued by the snapping you talk about. Is he snapping at (as in trying to make mouth to body contact) the other dog or just snapping the air in the other dog's direction.
Molly will snap the air when she wants to play with a dog. She will do a play bow then snap at the dog from a distance of two or three feet. When the other dog approaches she will bounce up and do zoomies around and around the other dog trying to get a game of chase started.
sorry for the delay in my response. I was on vacation....finally. he is not snapping from a distance but its not a snap that makes me think he is trying to hurt either. As I said on a different post today, jeter is a rough player and maybe he is just playing rough.
There is no growling at Nala or showing teeth. I dont see any aggressive body posture. I would like to try this again and this time the right way. I am open to all suggestions.
Hi Alec, its me again! Only because I have been in your situation. My pit was dog aggressive and we had to slowly introduce my hubby's clam cane corso. For months we would walk them together on leashes along the river. Me with my pooch and him with his. After a while Bob (pit) got used to walking with all of us. They got good at the walk together before we moved into the house. We went to my hubby's apt. but kept them apart. If they were both out, I was between them as MY dog was the problem. Bob was repremanded for inappropriate body language. At a snails pace and with a couple of handler errors, they became the best of friends and firm pack members! Now understand, that MY motivation was that I could not get married if my dog didn't behave! LOL At the end, Nicco would go over and curl up with Bob, Niccos head on Bob's belly, when Bob was dying of cancer!
