All professional trainers at some point have ran into "special case"...Hint: Every client thinks of their dog as a special case.
In you special case I would simply explain your attachment to the dog. Explain how you feel about others in the class poking at your pooch. If the trainers is any kind of leader he/she will be able to stop it with a few words in general.
If the trainer thinks you and your dog are a waste of time... Find another trainer who wants a good reputation and a long life in the industry. People who attack and an gossip about others and their training carries with them a true mark of a novice.
A dog teaches a boy fidelity, perseverance, and to turn around three times before lying down. - Robert Benchley
In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog. - Edward Hoagland
Dennis, I think you might of misunderstood me. I was not saying I deserve special treatment or my dogs. I was referring to the jack ass people walking past me.
Just wanted to clear that up. We have a wonderful trainer who is imho just great to work with. It was me that needed to speak up to some rude *ladies* being a tad unkind.
