Keiko won't touch anything I leave in the crate in my absence. (i.e. me leaving a rawhide for her if I leave for class or work) The family dog back at home does the same thing. It doesn't really bother me, but I'm curious if anyone else's dogs do this?

I have one that is pretty attached and won't chew/eat anything without me being in the same room. In his case it's a separation anxiety thing. He'll usually stare at the door or sleep.
For fun sometime you should video tape the dogs when you're not home. I found out some great information about my dogs behavior and how to best help them.
Just for grins, you might try one of the "interactive" treat toys where the dog has to do a bit of work to get the treats out. This might engage her mind a bit more. I personally would be very careful about leaving a dog alone with a rawhide in any case - toward the end they can get wet and slippery, easily being gulped and potentially causing a problem. JMHO. Your pup sure is getting big! I remember the first pic you posted when she was just a wee one.
I may try one of the interactive toys and see if she'll play with it. She sure is getting big! Well relative to the size she was when I first got her anyway. And now that you've suggested it Melissa, I will try videotaping her for kicks.
Yay! At least me = fun! I've been working hard to build a strong relationship and good communication with her, via the wealth of information and good advice found here.
'cus you're more funner than any toy you leave in the crate, I use rawhides if they are going to be in the crate for any length of time
Dennis, they have tried raw hides - the dog doesn't touch them when alone in the crate. You definitely have the knack for being "more funner" with your dogs!!!
I actually usually leave her with a knuckle bone (from the pet supply store) or a kong with a taste of peanut butter in it. I have left a rawhide which got minimal chewing once. Of course as soon as I walk through the door, then she wants to chew whatever I left for her. It's a little late then!
