Hi every body i have had dobermans all my life but they where show dogs i really would like to get a working doberman but no one that i ask no where to gget them and any breeder i ring ask they say there dog father have working back ground but i am looking a pup that mother and father are working dog but the only thing i live in ireland so i would be looking to import a dog from europe cause it to hard to get a pup into ireland that from the usa or any where else that out side europe it any body that no any breeder give a shout thanks every body
Steven, I live in continental Europe and except for one Dobi I haven't seen one that has strong nerves and isn't neurotic.
But you just got a Dobermann puppy. What happened to him? Why don't you follow the suggestions you got from board members? Even if this Dobi isn't what you were looking for you'll gain more information by working with him and visiting different local clubs or private trainers.
I live in Switzerland where we have plenty of "nicely colored" GSDs and a little bit less but still enough working line GSDs. Some of the show lines do pretty well in protection sport and for a new handler a show x working line is sometimes challening enough. My suggestion: stick with the one you just got and get a feeling of working line dogs by attending the trainings in question.
If you don't know this site, study some of the kennels: http://www.working-dog.de/zucht_ansehen.php?Rasse=5&searchterm=
yeah i just got one but i just want to no if there is any cause i just want to no yeah i am working with this puppy and if he does make it well at lest i have a freind for life that we can do other things it just i very hard to find
one in europe that i can looking at the web site and get in contact and may be go over and see what there dog are like because there none here in ireland
because i havent got the exprince to training hhim in presonal protection so here in ireland you have to bring to the only trainer in ireland and he work with him for a while and if he say he not any good well then because i dont want to train him the worng way and then he bits some one so that why i am geting a exprinces trainer
I don't know about personal protection training of dogs in continental Europe. In German speaking countries you will have a hard time finding a trainer or breeder who offers it.
BTW my dogs are not trained in personal protection nor would I do it (however my male is a K9 protection dog) but I don't advise breaking into my house. IMO they either have "it" or not. Getting a puppy is always a gamble. Ir you need a personal protection dog and have no experience in training one why don't you get a trained? By the time you'll find that "perfect" puppy and have it trained you end up spending tons of money and if you are a new handler in protection work ... it usually takes experience.
