yea, thought of doing the same but if you crunch the numbers, the cost of getting a litter to market not counting the hours you have to put in plus there is no guarantee that you won't get a litter of rejects, your brood bitch dies or loose the whole litter. Its cheaper to buy a pup or a green dog from a professional kennel
For sure Dennis you hit the proverbial nail on the noggin' !
Not only is it cheaper to buy a green dog or pup, but most likely you will get a better bred dog for whatever venue you want the dog for in the first place.
Not saying that Leland's bitch wouldn't throw good pups. But there is a lot of variables that need to be considered such as what both dam and sire bring to the table and does it compliment each other etc etc.
Seeing now that Malinois are showing in the Westminster and other conformation type of shows. Some people are breeding Malinois for the wrong reasons and it shows with these conformation breedings. Even with the 4-5 generations removed from Belgian working farm stock these dogs are actually starting to look different and I suspect that working abilities have suffered as well.
A Malinois to me is a working dog first and foremost and if a breeding doesn't reflect that. It is for the wrong reasons.

I actually find that the Mal's that show in the Westminster type shows are a lot better looking and have more work ethic than most working line Mal's out there. My next Mal will definitely be out of those lines.

Two dogs means less time for each dog for exercise and training, therefore less likelihood of success in titling dog or simply in having a well exercised, well socialized dog.
For most of us it is hard enough finding time to train one dog. Even accomplished trainers with more than one dog often have a developing dog and a fully trained mature dog that is older and requires less exercise, etc.
Leland would have serious challenges placing pups with quality homes capable of managing malinois.
Why would anyone interested in a malinois buy from someone breeding untitled dogs, with no track record, using an unproven stud?
I can see it now, 11 puppies and few or no committed buyers. what a horror show.
Even expensive pups from Balabanov etc. are cheap compared to the prospect of responsibility for a nervy or mismatched pup, or a pup that can't live up to training expectations.

You are so full of poop.
I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to say, Mike, wish you posted more frequently! Your sense of humour (as well as your no-bull posts) are sorely missed...
