Dogs roll in noxious substances to cover up their scent to fool their prey - it's a hunting instinct and difficult to control ( hell, even my Corgi does it sometimres )
The best way to control it is to clean up the old stool in the animal's yard right after elimination.
Hay now, Corgi's aren't sausage dogs.
One of my three Corgi's rolls in any poop he can find, but thank goodness not other dog's poop. Thing I do when he does this, bathe him. Atleast my GSD doesn't do this, he doesn't fit in the tub very well.

At least if they EAT it, you don't have to smell it until you can wash them off.... (the corgi is famous for rolling in nastiness, and then coming in and rolling on the living room carpet! ARG!)
You just have to avoid the kisses on the lips my dogs love to sneak in there after they eat an especially putrid dead squirrel or pile of unidentifiable crap!
I have noticed that Auster is more likely to roll in stuff right after a bath. I guess anything is less offensive to her than shampoo smell . I deal with it by bathing her only when I have to and using a shampoo with almost no smell (allergroom, but I haven't gone to Petsmart and checked for something better in a couple of years).

My 2 terriers ( jack Russell & a Foxy), will roll in anything - anytime. The smellier the better!. One favourite is a big splattery splodge of seagull poop!.
....and a huge mouthfull of fresh horse poop is just soooooooooooo irresistible.
Interstingly, my male terrier will rub, roll & squirm all over my partner (usually over his face if he is lying down). Any one else heard of this? - it's like he's trying to get the scent from him!. Pretty funny to watch!.
No one would normally plan to fail, but plenty of us fail to plan!
