I feed raw & it has NOTHING to do with the fact that my dogs will KILL ANYTHING that comes into the yard if they get the chance. Gotta love HIGH PREY & FOOD DRIVE dogs! I buy my dog meat & RMB at a restraunt wholesaler, but when I need some to hold me over before I make that trip & check out at the grocery store with alot of meat, I always get asked about how I must have a big family with all the meat that I am buying...then comes the comments about how viciuous it must make my dogs, when they find out the meat is mostly for them. HA HA HA..it's hard to be serious with an answer when someone make those kinds of comments.
I just got home from the chicken farm an hour ago with a 50 pound box of chicken backs and a fairly good size bag of fresh livers.
In the elevator, one of my neighbors asked me what was in the bag (you could see blood pooled in the bottom) so I told him. While he was still looking shocked I told him that my dog likes to eat them with favre beans and a nice chianti.
Just this morning I was in the checkout line at Wallyworld with a cart half full of chicken leg quarters, turkey necks and pork neck bones. Fortunately I did have a few rather "mundane" items like Enlish Muffins and ginger snaps, but it was of course, the amount of MEAT which caught the attention of the young woman ringing me out... After bagging up the chicken leg quarters she asked me "do you grill these or bake them?"... I couldn't help it - I said "neither - they are eaten raw!" Her jaw dropped and she said "no WAY!!" I assured her I had NEVER grilled or baked a chicken leg quarter... Her expression was priceless. I did relent and tell her it was for my dog, but I can't tell you that improved the look on her face one bit. She got very quiet, and wasn't the least bit assured when I reminded her that wolves, wild dogs, etc... don't get nuked, bagged food from the super store. When I handed her my check she took it gingerly as if there were blood cooties on it!!! LOL!
