For those of you who do not know her Stephanie of Montana GSD Rescue takes in many, many GSD's that are unwanted, abandoned, or near death in pounds and shelters all over Montana and many surrounding states. She rescues them and rehabs and trains them so that they are placed in appropriate homes.
She was kicked in the head by a friend's horse and ended up spending several days in the hospital. It is a wonder she is alive. She has no recollection of what happened, just what people have told her.
Apparently alone, looking after a friend's horses, she was kicked on the right side of her head. She somehow managed to get inside her friend's house and call another friend. She told that friend she was hurt bad and needed help right now. When her friend asked her where she was she replied she didn't know. That friend kept her on the phone and figured out where she was and was able to get her to the hospital. She was transferred to another hospital and it was determined she had fractures in her temple bone, upper & lower jaw bones and massive bruising. She is also blind in her right eye which now crosses over. She won't know for 6mo if she will regain that sight. It will take physical therapy to get the eye to look forward or track properly. She is on soft foods and liquids as chewing could further damage her jaws. Her brother and his girlfriend came from out of state to help her for a couple of weeks.
I am sure that if anyone is in the area visiting or lives nearby she could use a little help. I don't know how she is going to manage when her brother goes home.
Those wanting to help but can't travel may want to contribute to her rescue program since she most likely won't be able to hunt this season. She hunts to fill her freezer with wild game (elk, deer etc) to feed the dogs all winter. Any contribution will be appreciated.
