The video posted by Ms. Rosenquist is a sample size of 1. How does that disprove a list that could be a sample size of 1000s?
I've had a couple of friends who had hunting packs of beagles. This is typical for the beagles I've seen in their packs. One pack was over 30 dogs. One had over 100 beagles. And hearing stories from other hunters, beagles are known escape artists. I kept two at my home for someone while they were on an overseas trip. I THOUGHT I had a secure, escape proof, roofed over, floored pen. I learned different!
Not particularly saying that Kate Connick is any more qualified than the author to create that opinion-list, but I think she's qualified to review the book and the method (compiling opinions).
Good review. Thanks.
Ever since this book I have been reluctant to use the term intelligence in relation to dogs, as meanings differ so much.
One thing that I was surprised was NOT divided into separate intelligences was the difference between memorizing and problem solving. The two are not the same. For instance, many GSDs are higher in their problem solving ability than in their memorizing ability. Many poodles are higher in their memorizing ability than their problem solving ability. Neither breed is generally known to be low in either ability.
He makes other distinctions which make far less sense, but completely ignores this one.
