Just one more thing while I'm at it. I train at a GSD rescue (volunteer) and the things that I see most is separation anxiety., barrier frustration, dog/dog dog/human, hate to use the aggression word but that generalizes the behavior, I guess, well I see a lot of half ears, some will know what I mean by that one. I would say 60-70 percent are there because of not being bred right then under socialization compounds things and an owner not taking the time to learn a new species, if you can't learn a new language what makes you think you can learn a species? Just my opinion.
The other ones, well, we do get some really nice ones and it's people with much money, no time. Luckily they give up at 6-18 months and the dogs recover pretty good. The last category is very sad and I can't even type it. I hope you keep learning so I don't end up with your dog. Ok I'm done now!
Make coming and going as uneventful as possible. It is really simple. Auster gets two peanut butter cookies whenever she gets left in the crate. She will run into the crate and wait to be shut inside with her treats. I might give her a quick pat or tell her to be good but I don't get all emotional about it and make her think I am never coming back.
Oh I don't want to go to work, I'll miss you, be good sweetie, I love you, etc. is not a good idea. When I get home I make sure to wait a little while before I feed Auster to make sure that she doesn't get even more excited because she thinks that me coming in = dinner.
Big deal to human = big deal to dog

My dog and I jam out to Metallica on the way to club just before doing bite work. They have that new smash hit, "Die Helper, Die".
Die helper die? I resemble that remark! People say bad things to me before they let the dog go. Don't know if I should let this out but I respond by trying to kiss the dog on the nose during the bite and say nice things. Is that bad? Wierd? Sorry if I'm losing the thread.
yeah..this will totally loose the thread , but i got to be the decoy for a friend practicing with his rott. I screamed out at the top of my lungs while the dog was mid flight...poor guy dropped and looked frankly confused. My friend was pissed...Im still not sure if it was at me or the dog
Anyway, the pup is further adjusting and seems to fuss for a few minutes when I walk out the door but then settle in and Ive already been impressed with how little hes been trying to destroy...but Im sure if I give it time *sigh* and he gets bigger...anyway
was just worried cuz the little guy has been on me like glue since I brought him home.Secretly delighted tho Hes already barking at and trying to grab the lab when he runs by tho ( poor Orion)
Went to pick up my pup at the airport and should have realized the ride I was in for when I could hear him screaming above the din of the cargo area before I even saw him. The first time I heard him scream in his crate in the house I thought for sure he had gotten his mouth or paw caught in the kennel somehow. Nope, he was just sitting there wagging his tail. So throughout his puppyhood, I ignored it... very difficult! It's gotten better! But to this day, if he feels like it, he'll scream.

An Update on Neo ( In case anyone was interested)
the whining stopped...he fusses a bit when hes excited but not much else.
Im thankful he isnt like our lab whom Ive considered having devocalized....and before I get pounced for that, several dog ppl that would NEVER consider it have suggested it for el-nutso Lab.
So far Im thrilled with the new little guy..lotta pluck for a small-fry already slightly territorial, and tellin the lab where it stands and naturally herds to the Lab's dismay.
Only problem now is his nose is turnin pink, worse with more sun but am workin with the vet on whats up with that.
