Using a word, however, when you can't say "yes" you may feel frustrated and disappointed, and your posture may actually say "no!" The dog feels punished—and immediately the learning slows down or stops. Saving social praise for social interactions, and using a clear-cut mechanical marker signal that means only "you win!" to the dog, can speed up the learning and, strangely enough, remove stress and make the experience more fun for dog and owner too.
Using a word may make me feel frustrated and disappointed but using a clicker won't?
Using a word may affect my posture but using a clicker won't?
whats really worked for me is when I got the foundation done while they were puppies so the puppie/dog is already tuned in when you are pleased and ready to reward them. Mine eventualy learned that the click, "YEESSSS" "GOOD GIRLL" "EFFING A!" mean the same thing as well as tone of voice. Shepherd Dogs are already preprogramed to watch us and work us.

Those clickers must be very powerful!
Clickers are very powerful don't kid yourself ..
People seem to be taking that statement about the body language and missing the point. The point is your voice, your body your moods are all in a state of flux. Don't fool yourselves people dogs are intuitive animals and they pick up on anything and everything. That includes mood, body language and voice timbre.
But a click is a click is a click is a click and so on and so on. Repeatable reliable with no emotion, a click is a click.
Not to say that you can prance around all happy when the dog does a exercise correctly or use a verbal marker.
But a click is a click. Dogs understand that like we understand night and day.
