I had good results with my old lab Mokie using Corn Silk. When she got older she started to leak some urine. She was on rather high doses of Proin (which also worked) but I didn't want her to rely on that. When Mokie died unexpectantly, she was on 1/4 of the Proin that she had been on and had been completely dry for 2 months.
I got the capsules at Herbalremedies.com for just a few bucks.
Just a thought...

My granddog (male) had nighttime sphincter urinary incontinence, and after a few days of Proin the vet agreed to a switch to cornsilk. That was last year and he is still leak-free.
I don't know whether the few days of Proin worked or the cornsilk (or the combo), so I didn't post it before. But what the heck .... I can reinforce your anecdote, at least.

I noticed that your second post indicates that the dog also has issues with bowel control. Since the dog is having problems with controlling BOTH the bladder and the bowels, I would have more questions for the vet. Does the dog have problems with walking?
While I am not a health care professional, some spinal problems can result in the dog being unable to control these bodily functions. I do not wish to alarm you but felt I should mention it.
Thanks everyone for all the info Proin. I am a bit disappointed in my vet, and myself for not researching again. I am going to try the cornsilk for my girl.
