I searched on the vaccination forum, but had no luck in finding out if anyone knows what the protocol for cat vaccines is. We agree with Ed on his dog vaccination info about not vaccinating. But my daughter got a kitten from the local shelter this weekend, and she has already had the shots that are given at 8 weeks. We were wondering if anyone has info like Dr. Dodds protocol for dogs, that apply to cats.

My cats are strictly indoor cats. With the exception of putting them in an x-pen on the deck when it is nice outside, they stay inside all the time.
So with that said, they get very minimal vaccines. We get their 3 shot series of Parvo and Distemper when they are kittens and that is it for their life. We are not required to have a rabies vaccine for dogs or cats here. We have one cat going on 9 this year and he has been going strong since we got him. We also have one 3 year old cat and a 1 year old cat. All had the same vaccine protocol and all are doing well.
The reason I chose those two vaccines is they are the most predominant infections in my area. Because I have dogs that train and run in different areas all year round, I chose to vaccinate my cats in case the dogs were to drag something in when they were kittens.
