I just purchased the story of Nubs this weekend. Previously I read From Iraq with Love the story of Lava. I balled like a baby at the end of each. It seems like Nubs was much easier to bring home. Maybe because the book was shorter, more like a children's book. If I recall correctly Lava had to be smuggled for shots and kept with a reproter for a time. Of course that book gave more a sense of war from the soldiers point of view. Is it easier to bring a dog home now? I'm pretty sure Nubs' story was later. Have the restrictions eased up as the stories of the benefits of caring for these dogs seemed to bring to the companies and soldiers who cared for them? I'm certain there are hundreds of reasons not to, but these two dogs seemed to have been down right therapeutic for the marines who's lives they touched.
