My nearly two year GSD male, Mojo, was recently diagnosed with a cruciate injury. We are scheduled for TPLO surgery on December 9th with Washington State University's Vet Hospital. He is currently on 227mg of Previcox for pain management and I'm wondering what I can do, besides severely limiting his activity level, to optimize his chances for a successful surgery.
He is fed a raw diet (Mountain Dog Food)/high quality kibble (Nature's Logic), supplemented with ground organic lamb, salmon oil and yogurt. Since his diagnosis on Sunday November 15th, I have been adding buffered asorbic acid as an additional supplement (1/8 teaspoon). He is in excellent shape ( quite lean, with a high muscle mass) and is currently bearing some weight on his knee.
Any health advice would be greatly appreciated; we love him dearly and want to do right by him as best we can while waiting for our surgery date.
Thanks in advance for any response(s); I will do my best to reply in a timely manner!
