3 of my girls started out in the breeding program. Toni, Cat and Drift. They were "retired" when Ed and Cindy decided to stop breeding. The only thing they asked was that I not breed them.
They are WONDERFUL and AMAZING dogs. I THANK Cindy and Ed daily for my girls. I would NEVER even think of second guessing them and wondering what an alterior motive was. They could have sold them for a small fortune, but instead they let them come and live with me.
Believe it or not, some breeders really do care that their dogs go to good homes. The REALLY good breeders are not in it for the money.
Enjoy your dog. Don't question the breeder's character. Sounds like this is a decent person and doesn't deserve the suspicions.
If I were you, I would be thanking this person profusely!!!!
Add me to the list of people that was given a great dog. My fist was from Cindy and Ed, and second a few years later.
I'd like to think it was because of my charming personality and extensive resume as a trainer, but considering most don't find me too charming and I had never trained any dog before in anything before I met them, I can't really fool myself into thinking those were the reasons anymore.
But I do think they saw someone that cared about dogs, was responsible enough and could give them a good home. I think that was more important than anything else to them. My only regret is I don't get to bring them by so they can see how they're doing more often.
which reminds me, they're doing great BTW, I should get some video and send an update soon.
Thanks Eric and Kelly for giving our dogs such great homes!
I would like to say that as a breeder, I'd much rather give a dog to someone who will care for and love the dog than sell it to someone who may lack in those areas.
I'd rather see my dog in a pet home where they are the center of someone's day, than in a world class competition home where they spend hours or days in a kennel and are only brought out to work. Don't get me wrong, my dogs are kenneled sometimes and I realize people have to go to work
I guess my point is that there are people who have working dogs and they treat them more like livestock than like family members. I don't want that life for my dogs so I choose (usually) people that I hope will give them great lives.
I've been wrong a few times in the past and/or I've been misled by people who have obtained dogs from me. That is the NUMBER ONE reason I no longer breed dogs. It's emotionally draining and unfair to the dogs so I choose to not bring any more into the world. If I ever need another dog, I'll buy a pup from someone I trust and respect.
The majority of the folks who have gotten pups from us are AWESOME, and I don't want to downplay those peeps at all.
Eric...video, updates please. It's almost Zen's birthday, again.
