Hi Gail,
I have one that's pretty much the same way. I keep her away from people and animals due to the fact that she's retarded. She's fine with me so it's no biggie. There just isn't any "fixing it" sometimes. With my dog i simply don't care that she's a whack job, she makes me laugh everyday and i just stick her in her crate and shut the door when people are over.
Thanks for answering me. How is your dog at the vet?? And what do you do if you need to go away and have someone else care for him?? Presently, we are doing just what you suggest. Putting him in his crate when people are around so he is not stressed out and our guests do not accidently "trigger" him. He is such a short little dog and kinda cute so everyone's natural reaction is to bend to pet him.
My husband and I agree that he is so sweet with us we want to keep trying with him. I know some dogs are just so great with people they just have the run of the house. I don't think that everyone who comes over has to love my dog as much as I do. Some people are just not dog lovers and don't want even the friendliest of dogs on them.
