Kristel: is that the offending yellow rope in you signature pic there lol?
heh, deathscooter's days are numbered, I'm going to my parents for the holidays after which I'll have my bike and the new kicksled my father build me over some old cross country skis...goodbye death scooter, hello dog sled and bike
Yup, that's the yellow rope AND the flying squirrel, in better, ice-free days:-)
I thought of doing the sled thing too. It looks like fun and seems like it would be a great way to exercise the dog in the winter. What stops me? One squirrel and it's all over
Ripley is going to be 5 in February, and as much as I'd like to start biking with him, I'm worried that he's too old now.
Is that nuts?
FIVE? you think FIVE is too old to start biking???? Wow. At five, my dogs are still puppies. I will not tell them you said that.
Ah.. i'm just teasing you. no, five is definitely not too old. IMO it is the perfect age, because you don't have to worry about soft puppy joints. Just as you would with any age dog, start slow and build up.
Talking of biking, embarrassing bike related story from the summer...
During the summer we like to take the dogs down the canal on the bikes with the springers attached as the grass path alongside is smooth and flat and is much less strain on the dogs joints than on the road...
Well one particular day , cycling as normal with my large border collie Kay on one side and my boyfriend cycling behind, everything was going great until 5 mins later, when i realised i was upside down in the 6ft ditch on the other side of the path with a bike on top of me and a collie sat looking at me as if to say " Wasn't me ?!" . I for some reason , maybe the fall, couldn't recall or even work out what had happened but according to my boyfriend who saw it all, the collie saw a rabbit , went to follow it and this time the springers safety line snapped a little to late and the momentum of the pull was still enough to send me and the bike crashing! I was laughing so much perhaps the shock of it all !
