Ha ha ha ha,
Guess what? I lied!
So teaching the out, that's your big (non)distinction!!!??
Which by the way, is way less than half of the questions posed that you (non)answered.
Really Debbie, you should be asking us questions rather then telling us anything but what the weather at the moment may be in your nieghborhood.
I dont mean wearing the suit makes the difference, I was saying that schutzund trained dogs that I've seen have only bitten on the sleeve. where I've seen a police trained dog bite other places on the body. I not sure if this is true but dont a dog actually get points taken off for biteing other than the sleeve? Every time I have went to a schutzhund training club, it is the exact same thing. The guy is behind the blind everytime, seems like the dog just gets robotic, if you were to put that dog into a different sceniro without a transition of training, the dog is going to be confused. I have never seen a helper wear a concealed sleeve at a schutzhund training club, I think the schutzhund training is a very respectable sport and didnt mean to sound as if I were knocking it down. I think a civil trained dog is trained with a more life or death type training. I would think that you being a police dog trainer would understand more than the rest of what I was trying to say.
Debbie,
It depends entirely on the SchH club and the dog - my SchH II dog is *very* civil ( and there are dozens of posters here on this forum that have seen him in action ), yet I've been able to train into him enough control that I've gotten excellent SchH scores.
Yet he remains a formidable deterrent for protecting me.
And my last SchH club did *plenty* of Real World based scenario training ( and yes, we used hidden sleeves frequently ). We had several national class level SchH dogs that that would protect their handlers in just about any situation that you'd care to mention.
So, it's the dogs and the training - and the right SchH titled dog can be just as civil as a dog trained entirely for PP work.
I think that you need to visit more SchH clubs before you make those sweeping remarks like you do.
OK, I apoligize, it never occured to me the 3 clubs I went to were poor examples. I tried to bring up pictures of Fetz but couldnt I really wanted to see them. The resources around where I live is so limited, its hard to find good trainers. The 3 clubs that I did go to were 1-4 hours away. There was only 2 dogs in these 3 clubs that were impressive to me. Thats why I guess I am so closed minded about what schutzhund training is about. I will take your advice. Thanks,
Debbie
