Hi again,
I'm having a bit of an issue with my Doberman this time. When I'm trying to work him in bringing the toy straight back to me when its released. Without any leash preasure when i back up and try to make my self exciting he ends up just jumping in circles with the toy trying to "kill it" and if he does come back with it its very slow and he'll normally like to try to stop just outside grabbing distance for me. he seems to enjoy tugging with me and is definitely motivated to get the toy.
I used to work him in the Bernard Flinks drive and focus DVD i had, and I'm now learning that i made him too rewarded by possession, and now I'm trying to use the information from the new M.E power of tug DVD i got recently and its proving difficult.
i have tried to make myself the biggest party in the world but as soon as he has got the toy he wants to play keep away. I have tried making tug sessions short between outs and not tugging so hard that he doesn't feel in control.
I don't want to let him continue to dance around with the toy because it will nurture the possessive tendencies he's already got right? If i give him a light pop and then back up very excited he will bring it to me, but then he is checking out and letting the leash be the signal right?
I know the info is in that DVD and i keep watching it again and again, but i really want to make sure i get this right for me and my dog, so any help would be much appreciated.

This problem seems to have fixed it's self with lots of repetitions and lots of excitement, training as many times as possible for short durations. thanks anyway, tried for a while and as soon as i post the question the problem disappears.
