I got another newbie Question for all of you out there. My pup really wants to play keep away with me. Will this cause problems with obedience/recall, etc. if I let him do it?
It's funny when they first start to play keep away. That is until they suddenly have something that their not supposed to, which is why I wouldn't encourage the behavior. JMO
Yes it will cause a problem later. Why not spend this time teaching him to retrieve and come to you. Sit on the floor, throw something that he will run after, when he picks it up have him bring it to you and give him a treat. Have a leash on and guide him back to you if he won't come on his own.
It is much better to have a dog that wants to run to you than run away from you.
