I took my almost 9 month old pup to training today. I managed to have video taken, so I am here to share it! He is the first dog I have ever trained in this kind of sport, so we are learning a lot together. I am a terrible handler by the way, he is getting VERY strong and I am VERY small lol Put it this way: he already weighs half of me. His name is Benny.
Here are pics first; my trainer is introducing the between-the-legs escort position.
btw he TOTALLY goofed around the one minute mark...he is brand new to the yellow sleeve, and he was focusing on the tug tube a little too much after the out. then he got tangled and i had to unwrap him lol
Yes, it is very fun for me. Together we are a work in progress, but Benny is far surpassing any expectations I had for him. You are in NorCal...maybe one day you'll see us on the trial field. Kind of hard to miss, I am 5 foot nothing and he is a goofy brindle APBT (as if they aren't a rarity in these sports!) lol.
Hey I'm 5 foot 3 and proud of it! Never slowed me down before! (Except when I need something way up high! ha!)
All of these training sessions should be beefing up your muscles pretty good. Good exercise for both of you! Thank goodness my dog hasn't figured out that he's stronger than me yet, I would go for a ride if I tried what you were doing in the video!
I wore vans to training about two weeks ago, and coupled with wet grass...Benny pulled me flat on my ass and was dragging me on the field! I managed to skip to my feet, but he was hauling me around like a rag doll. It was hilarious, but awful at the same time and I was wheezing afterward lol That really taught me a lesson; I will only wear running shoes with actual traction from now on!
Dom is very cute. They look a bit awkward around the 7 to 8 month mark, don't they? haha After that their hair gets longer and they fill out, then it's good bye puppy looks forever!
You would think I'd be gaining more fit and stronger, but last week my muscles ached for two days. I am really out of shape lol Plus I hold a Malinois bitch before I take out Benny, so she is a spazz and wears me down as well.
