Does anyone have a recommendation? I've searched online but so far have only found positive or avoidance trainers. I need a bit more hands-on guidance to fully proof the recall. I didn't see a list of trainers on this site, but if there is one, please direct me to it. I know some of you are in the Boston area, so if you have a good trainer you're using, please pass their name along. My dog is not for schutzhund or protection, though he'd excel at agility, so I'm not necessarily looking for someone who specializes in bite work related dog sports/obediance. However, he is a working dog, with a ton of drive, so maybe that would be the best trainer for us.
Suggestions?
I have just started worked with Scott Dunmore. He's featured in Leerburg videos and works with Michael Ellis. He does everything you are looking for, and more. He is a fantastic trainer. I am looking to move Cali into sport obedience, but being a Lab, bite work is ridiculous. But the sport obedience suits her perfectly--temperment, drive--plus it's fun. (AKC-type ring obedience competition bores me and her.) We will be working with him on learning to use the e-collar for training, although we haven't started that yet.
He is leaving for San Antonio tomorrow, so he may be difficult to reach. When you do get him, please be sure to tell him I did the recommending. Thanks.
