Hi. I noticed my puppy has a fairly large lump that appeared last night right in the middle of his neck where it meets the shoulder blades. Unfortunately I cannot get to a vet until tomorrow. The breeder says that it is unlikely from the microchip, so could it be from his vaccines? Apart from some scratching in the morning the lump doesn't seem to bug him, even when I touch it or move it around, he just thinks I'm petting him. Last night it was very soft, just seemed water filled, but this morning it has hardened some. And it's perfectly round. The vaccines were for Coronavirus and Parvo. The Parvo one says 'Nobivac Puppy DP' and the other one 'Vanguard Plus 5/CV'. I was really worried at first, but I haven't noticed a change in him, he still is very playful and walks normally.
Hey, thank you for that, I will read through all the links. My other dog only had his first vaccine, and he was really tired and kind of sick for the day. I considered no vaccines after that incident, if I was to get another dog, but it turned out that this puppy was imported.
So the date says December 28th, which seems like a long time to only be getting a reaction now. Hopefully it goes down today, is there anything I should feed him or put on the lump? I could try the cold compress as in the other thread.
I don't feel qualified enough to give any type of medical advice, but since you said he is acting fine, I personally would feed as usual and keep an eye on it. If it becomes hot to the touch that could indicate an infection and perhaps immediate action, but right now it does not sound like an emergency. IMHO. Keep us posted.

He got a lot more than just parvo and coronavirus.
from website"VANGUARD® PLUS 5/CV contains attenuated strains of canine distemper (CD) virus, canine adenovirus-2 (CAV-2), canine parvovirus (CPV), canine coronavirus (CCV), and canine parainfluenza (CPI) virus propagated on an established canine cell line."
Nobivac Puppy DP "Each dose contains live attenuated strains of Canine Parvo virus (strain C 154) ≥ 107 TCID50 Canine Distemper virus (strain Onderstepoort) ≥ 105TCID50. Nobivac Puppy DP is mainly indicated for the first vaccination of puppies at the age of 4-6 weeks."
Please tell me he didn't get these at the same time. Any time there's a number in part of the vac you can guess it's one of those 5 or 6 way cocktails they dreamed up.
Sounds like an abscess. Might need to get the vet to drain and flush it.
Hey, thanks. I should search those vaccines to see if people have had similar problems. And no, I checked the dates and the dp one was a few weeks earlier. I'm guessing these cocktails are a lot harder on the pup. The good news is that his skin looks totally normal and to me it looks like the lump flattened a little over night, I'm trying my best to keep him from scratching it.
Thanks for the advice everyone. His lump is just about gone now. At a local dog store that sells raw food the owner told me his dog had the exact same thing which he attributed to vaccines, and he no longer vaccinates because of it.
