HEHE yeppers I need to protect what shoes I have left
I live in the middle of nowhere in a town so small everyone knows when you potty. No tennis courts and they won't let me work him at the schools or the rodeo arena. Too many people never pickup after their dogs. I do throw sticks for him as we walk. He won't bring it back but he will chase it a few time.
It can be hard finding places to let your dog run, but check out tennis courts or school yards which you might be able to use early or late or on weekends......
By the way.. I don't mean just lose in a tennis court without you. I mean retrieving a ball, etc...
If I may add that my 50 ft long line is the BEST thing I have ever bought!
Living with a big, young dog and no yard is tough. The 50 foot line is plenty of room to exercise them wherever you want without worrying about them being off leash. Its a little bit of a pain to make sure nobody gets get tangled, but its worth it to know that you can always reel them in if you need to.
I even use it with a chuck it. I throw the ball and jog forward a little as she flies out to retrieve it.
While you work on building his confidence you might want to check with your vet about a prescription for Clomicalm (sp?). It's an anti-anxiety drug that might help him temporarily while you work on his separation anxiety.
