I've lost my supplier for bulk chicken necks and backs for my dogs' food, as they have undergone a management switch-around, and are absolutely no longer selling to individuals
So I'm in the middle of a desperate search for new sources, and one of my buddies that owns a restaurant here is working on ordering from his vendors for me. One of his vendors has something available (I can't remember what he called it) that is the chk back plus a full rib cage. I've never fed any chk ribs before, and I'm wondering if anyone has had any experiences with this?
It sounds great, I'm only wondering if those little ribs may pose more of a choking hazard for my large GSDs.
Most of the time I buy a whole carcass. Its been stripped of the legs, wings, and most of the breast meat. Sometimes they are split so that they are flat and look like mostly rib. They crunch and tear em up pretty nicely. At the chinese markets I buy them at they just call them chicken bone.
What you are describing sounds pretty much like these.
I sometimes feed whole chickens that I just cut up & they eat the whole chicken in 2-3 meals depending on what else I might be feeding at those meals. Should not be a problem.
Thanks for the input ... I've got an order of chicken "frames" on the way!
On the upside of losing my supplier, I've gained 3 new sources via restaurants right in the middle of downtown where I work ... no more driving 30 miles for chk for me. Thank goodness for networking!
